OUR ORGANIZATION

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo was formed in 1995 and is one of the largest municipalities by area in Canada. The Municipality is rich in cultural diversity, and as an organization, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace that reflects the community in which we live.

We are proud to call the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo region home and work closely with Council to serve all residents, stakeholders, partners and community organizations.

There are approximately 1,500 unionized and non-unionized employees, working together at the Municipality, providing the services that keep our region moving and support a high-quality of life.  Together, we make important and critical contributions in the areas of Regional Emergency Services, Transit, Environmental Services, Public Works, Engineering, Planning and Development, Communications and Engagement, Community and Protective Services, Finance, Information Technology, Human Resources, Safety and more.

Although our roles may vary, one thing we all have in common, is the pride in the work we do and the communities we serve.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo offers its employees competitive pay, an attractive work-life balance, comprehensive workplace wellness programs, and opportunities to develop new skills, while supporting career growth. We also offer an excellent employee benefits package and pension plans to ensure that our employees and their families have the support and access to the resources they need.
