GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under limited supervision, the Guest Services Representative is the first point of contact for guests visiting the Fort Chipewyan Aquatics Centre. The incumbent delivers customer service to all patrons and provides support to other staff as needed. This position is in the Hamlet of Fort Chipewyan and is approximately 223 Kilometers north of Fort McMurray. All candidates will be considered for this role, however local applicants will be given preference.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet guests and ensure they are aware of, and following, facility rules and policies.
- Promptly, accurately, and courteously respond to internal and external inquiries, direct incoming calls, and deliver messages.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of services, amenities, facilities, and promotional activities of the Fort Chipewyan Aquatics Centre.
- Proactively seek opportunities to create memorable customer experiences.
- Provide tours of facilities as requested.
- Data entry and filing, assist with event coordination, and other various organizational and administrative tasks and projects.
- Maintain efficient and effective flow of information with guests and all staff. Assist with communication between staff and the public as required.
- Process payments for program registration, membership sales, drop-ins, equipment rental, and other items.
- Process daily cash outs and produce monthly cash out documents.
- Help to maintain the community bulletin boards, check areas, and report cleaning or maintenance needed.
- Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- General math and numeracy skills, including the ability to handle monetary transactions.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to deal courteously and effectively with a diverse range of people, using judgement, tact, and sound decision making skills, sometimes in conflict situations.
- Professional, with the ability to demonstrate compassion, empathy, and support.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office, the ability to utilize the internet, and to quickly learn and use related computer systems.
- Ability to prioritize and manage several job functions at one time.
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of, or ability to obtain knowledge of, municipal operations, department functions, municipal bylaws, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to speak Cree or Dene is an asset.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- One (1) year of experience in a customer service role which includes processing monetary transactions is required.
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Submission of a Criminal Record Check.
