GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

The Advisor, Facility Security is responsible for ensuring that all RMWB facilities remain compliant to industry and corporate physical security infrastructure standards to protect, deter threats, and address vulnerabilities. As the technical subject matter expert for capital initiatives, this role will be responsible for delivering effective security strategies. Demonstrating a strong customer service focus, the incumbent will respond, investigate, and report on security incidents as they relate to security infrastructure. Primary responsibilities of the position include: 


Guidance: Facilitates awareness and compliance with policies, procedures, industry standards, and best practices. Provides guidance to client departments regarding security infrastructure standards. Develops and maintains relationships with all stakeholders, as well as advocating for continuous system and technology improvements. Assists with reviewing contract negotiations and service level agreements as they relate to facility security. 


Program Development: Leads the development of facility security infrastructure system processes, policies, and procedures. Conducts research and provides recommendations and mitigations to support compliance with industry standards and best practices for a variety of security concerns. Leads the development and maintenance of a threat, risk, and vulnerability assessment and evaluation program for corporate and infrastructure security. Develop and maintain sustainment reports for all security infrastructure, including continuous improvement and gap analytics.


Service Delivery: Assists in identifying, prioritizing, and managing security risks. Ensures the corporate facility security infrastructure system is well maintained and operating as required. Coordinate and respond to security issues and requests. Identify, investigate, and review security infrastructure breaches/damages and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with other municipal departments for the purpose of security infrastructure investigations as required. Provides guidance and coordination for contracted security personnel and associated agreements and contracts. Provide technical support to branch staff on all facility security infrastructure; inclusive of Lenel expertise and CCTV systems.

 

 

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Candidates need to show evidence of the following: 
  • Demonstrated proficiency and certification in various systems, including Access Control, CCTV systems (IP and Analog), Alarm Annunciation, and Lenel security systems. 
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and exercise a high attention to detail. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external contacts in a transparent manner that builds trust, confidence, and credibility.
  • Problem solving capabilities and critical thinking that allows to identify underlying issues, prioritize, and manage risks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Projects).
  • Demonstrated experience of being solution and service focused. 
  • A high level of professionalism as reflected by the ability to be discreet, keep all information and documentation strictly confidential, respectfully, and sensitively resolve issues.  

 

 

EDUCATION: 

 

  • Diploma in Security Management, or related post-secondary program with a focus on corporate security, emergency management, or public safety. 
  • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) designation from ASIS International is strongly preferred. 
  • Lenel S2 Certification is preferred.
  • Basic crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) training or experience is considered an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

 

 

EXPERIENCE: 

 

  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in the security industry that is focused on technical facility security infrastructure. 
  • Experience working in a public-sector environment is considered an asset.

 

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

 

  • Ability to provide a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search for review and acceptance.
  • A valid Class Five (5) Operator’s License is required as incumbent will be required to operate a personal or municipal vehicle for business use on a regular basis. 
  • Must be willing to work outside in all conditions.
