GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

Under close supervision, the Assessment Clerk provides clerical support, and accurately and expediently maintains information required to produce and issue the assessment rolls. Poor judgement or errors may result in a negative impact on municipal operations and corporate image.

 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Provide clerical support including, but not limited to, electronic filing, creating and maintaining records, preparation of mass mail out documents, and other related duties. 
  • Assemble, process, and edit data required to issue assessment and business revitalization zone rolls and notices within legislated deadlines. 
  • Provide customer service and respond to enquiries regarding assessment and tax accounts through various means of communication.
  • Assist assessors at peak times to ensure the assessment roll is finalized in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining school declarations.
  • Create and maintain various types of accounts in computerized systems. 
  • Review reports to investigate and correct data inconsistencies and errors. 
  • Maintain database rates and factors. 
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 


QUALIFICATIONS

 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner and communicate respectfully with co-workers and external clients.
  • Strong keyboarding proficiency, with the ability to enter data accurately and expeditiously. 
  • Proficient in various Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook. 
  • Proven ability to prioritize, assemble, accurately process, and edit information within set deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively and productively with co-workers and actively contribute to team objectives.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

 

  • Diploma in Office or Business Administration is required. 
  • Two (2) years’ related clerical support experience in a computerized environment using spreadsheets, databases and word processing applications is required.
  • Course work in property assessment, building construction, and drafting is an asset.
  • Previous experience working with land titles, in a building construction environment, and with computer-aided design software are all considered assets.

 


OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

 

  • Submission of a Criminal Record Check.
