GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

Under general supervision, the Building Security Administrator is responsible for the security system administration of the Municipality’s various administrative buildings and facilities. This includes maintaining up-to-date physical access controls, managing card requests, door programming, and other directly related customer service requests for facility access.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Act as primary contact for technical support and customer service requests pertaining to security system operation including, but not limited to, programming requests, access badge requests, and CCTV (closed circuit television) system backup.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any minor operational security system issues.
  • Keep an up-to-date inventory and record of access requests.
  • Produce system reports and retrieve CCTV footage as required.
  • Ensure updates and upgrades to system are sustained and maintained on a regular basis.
  • Act as primary contact with vendors for security infrastructure support.
  • Maintain a current inventory of all security infrastructure mapping and locations.
  • File drawings, technical reports, catalogues, and related documents and maintain an up-to-date index and register of these items.
  • Prepare requisitions and work orders and keep an up-to-date inventory and record of expenditures for all system and contracted support. 
  • Manage and issue key credentials for various work areas including manual keying and electronic key boxes.
  • Act as primary Facilities stakeholder for all security infrastructure initiatives.
  • Work on small scale security project initiatives.
  • Act in a professional and confidential capacity in relation to recorded solicitation requests that seek sensitive information for investigations. 
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 

Poor judgement or errors may result in loss of time and productivity and may have a negative impact on operational and financial resources.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Demonstrated skills and certification in various systems, including Access Control, CCTV systems (IP and Analog), Alarm Annunciation, and Lenel security systems.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to  deal courteously and effectively with a diverse range of people, using judgement, tact, and sound decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication; verbal and written, interpersonal, and planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings, diagrams, specifications, schematics and operations/product manuals as applicable to related operating system(s).
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and to effectively schedule work in order to meet service demands and minimize disruption to users.
  • Ability to work in a highly confidential environment and ensure integrity of information and tasks.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Security Certificate or directly related facility services certification is required.
  • Two (2) years of progressive experience in the security industry or directly related experience within a facility services environment is required.

 

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Submission of Criminal Record Check.
