GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Fire Training Officer IV is responsible for the development and delivery of Training for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s Regional Emergency Services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver training to Regional Emergency Services in all matters pertaining to fire, rescue, medical and prevention.
- Research and develop training programs and materials in support of Training Branch initiatives.
- Plan and organize individual and branch programs in support of Training Branch initiatives.
- Liaise and assist with mutual aid agencies with respect to training and exercise participation.
- Liaise and assist with internal and external organizations in support of Training Branch initiatives.
- Assist in the updating and maintenance of accurate record keeping for personnel.
- Provide input and assistance as required for Training Branch business plan and budgetary requirements.
- To work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Attend training as required to support Training Branch initiatives.
- Perform such tasks as necessary to support and maintain continuity of the Regional Emergency Services.
- Understand and support the Corporate Mission, Vision and Value statements.
QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate excellent instructional abilities for the adult learner.
- The ability to research, develop, construct, initiate and effectuate quality training programs.
- The ability to clearly communicate in the verbal and written form.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding in the use of modern instructional aids and equipment.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, motivational and decision-making abilities.
- The ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Required:
- NFPA 1001, Level I and Level II
- NFPA 1002
- Class 3 or 4 Alberta Driver's Licence (with Q endorsement).
Preferred:
- NFPA 470 (previously NFPA 1072 and NFPA 472);
- NFPA 1006;
- NFPA 1021 Level II;
- NFPA 1051;
- NFPA 1041 Level I, Part I;
- Valid First-Aid Instructor Certification;
- Valid Basic Cardiac Life-support [CPR] Instructor Certification;
- PCP Certification, and registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid Class five (5) Alberta Driver's License is required.
- Submission of a Criminal Record Check is required.
