GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

This is a Summer Student position working seventy (70) hours bi-weekly, from May 2026 to August 2026 within the Human Resources and Safety Department.

 

The Summer Student, Human Resources will provide support to Human Resources by assisting with various projects, programs, and initiatives within the Human Resources Department. The incumbent will complete basic research, summarize findings, and prepare reports and documentation. Primary responsibilities of this position include:

 

General Administration: Updates, creates, and maintains metrics, documents, and files, prepares agendas, meeting minutes, memos, letters, and other documentation as required. Routinely handles confidential information.

 

Information Delivery Support: Researches, compiles, tracks, and assembles information to assist with updates for policies, procedures, guidelines, and reports for internal distribution based on best practices for continuous improvement, while ensuring compliance with collective agreements and legislation. Maintains and updates information in HR information systems to ensure they are accurate and up to date.

 

Department Support: Provides a variety of information and assistance to internal or external stakeholders on matters relating to Human Resources, departmental procedures, and programs. Provides support to assigned leader and works closely with other HR professionals throughout the Human Resources Department on a variety of projects and special assignments. Assists with other departmental tasks as required.

 

 

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

 

Candidates need to show evidence of the following:

 

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proven ability to be discreet and keep all information and documentation strictly confidential.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written, and the ability to accurately record information.
  • Ability in handling a fast paced and varied workload in a flexible manner.
  • A high proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

 

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Human Resources or Business, Commerce, Management, or related discipline, with a focus in HR and/or Labour Relations is required;

OR

 

  • Enrolled in a diploma program in Human Resources, Business, Management, or related discipline is required.

 

Candidates who are successful during the interview process will be required to provide the following documents: 

  • Proof of enrollment in a full-time post-secondary program.
  • A copy of a High School Diploma or GED equivalency.  
  • Contact information for two supervisory references.
  • Criminal record check.
